Church invitation

Visited a friend the other day and had a look around her Churches; I came across this banner in the entrance porch of one of the churches and I thought what a great statement of evangelism. Many folk agonise over the whole issue of mission and evangelism; “we don`t have the skills”, “We don`t know what to say”. “What if they say no ?”, “It`s not my job, it`s the Ministers !” and so the list goes on and on.

But surely its about two things, firstly about the person themselves. We know them and presumably have a relationship with them and secondly its about something we love, the Church as set up by our Lord Jesus himself. What could be more simple ?

Too often its about trying to drag people into a Church building, to something they could be embarrassed by, to sit amongst people who simply see the visitor as another potential notch on the membership quota. No it should be as simple as the above. If we love the Church (by this I mean as intentioned by Christ, rather than the institution) we should be prepared to invite others. If they say no. then that is their choice. Remember Jesus didn`t chase after the rich young ruler who walked away; he simply presented the facts and the challenge and left the man to make his own mind up.

Anyway, I liked it !!!!!

Me too but agree with what you said often we will not invite friends to church because we are embarrassed by what will greet them
